Royal Gendarmerie services in the Biougra detachment, Aït Baha province, on Wednesday morning, September 9, managed to seize a large quantity of "Water of Life" (Mahia) alcoholic beverage during a security operation targeting a clandestine workshop in the Ait Al-Aati douar, affiliated with the municipality of Sidi Boushab, under the leadership of Imi Nqourn in Aït Baha province.
The operation, which was directly supervised by the commander of the Royal Gendarmerie detachment and the commander of the territorial center, resulted in the seizure of approximately 16 tons of "Water of Life," which were, according to preliminary information, intended for distribution, along with a vehicle suspected of being used for transport and distribution.
The inspection also led to the confiscation of a number of equipment, machinery, and pipes that were used inside the workshop for fermentation and distillation processes, pending the application of legal procedures to the seized items.
Concurrently, Gendarmerie elements arrested a man in his fifties on suspicion of his involvement in managing this unlicensed activity. He was placed under police custody by order of the competent public prosecution.
Judicial investigations are ongoing to uncover all the circumstances of the case, determine the nature of the activity, the extent of the potential distribution network, and to identify any other individuals who may be linked to this activity.
This operation comes as part of the security campaigns carried out by the Royal Gendarmerie to combat unlicensed activities related to the manufacture and distribution of alcoholic beverages, with the results of the investigation being referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
