The National Commission for the Control of the Protection of Personal Data signed, yesterday Wednesday in Lisbon, a memorandum of understanding with the National Commission for Data Protection in Portugal, which aims to strengthen the partnership between the two parties on issues of common interest.
This agreement was signed by Paula Mira Lourenço, President of the National Commission for Data Protection in Portugal CNPD, and Omar Seghrouchni, President of the National Commission for the Control of the Protection of Personal Data CNDP. A statement by the CNDP indicated that this agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two bodies, particularly regarding the exchange of information and expertise, especially in areas that pose new challenges in the field of personal data protection, such as artificial intelligence, image processing, and digital violence. Cooperation also extends to educational projects and training programs, as well as the sharing of best practices in the field of monitoring and implementing the legal framework. This strategic partnership also provides for the organization of annual bilateral meetings to enhance exchange, share expertise, and reflect on the protection of personal data, and to benefit from the distinguished relationships that connect the two institutions with international networks for the protection of personal data, such as the Ibero-American Network for Personal Data Protection (RIPD) and the Portuguese-speaking Network of Personal Data Protection Authorities (RLPD) on the Portuguese side, as well as the Francophone Association of Personal Data Protection Authorities (AFAPDP) and the African Network of Personal Data Protection Authorities (RAPDP) on the Moroccan side.
