A group of environmental activists called Green Future have broken into Inter Miami player Lionel Messi’s mansion in the Spanish city of Ibiza.
The group filmed themselves vandalizing the mansion and wrote a sign saying “Help the planet.”
“The mansion is an illegal construction that the footballer acquired for the exorbitant sum of 11 million euros,” the group wrote on X.
“Meanwhile, in the Balearic Islands alone, 2 to 4 people have died as a result of the heatwave.
“The richest 1% of the world’s population is responsible for the same amount of carbon emissions as the poorest two-thirds. This is only possible because governments subsidize an economic and social system that puts lives at risk.”
“This is just one more example that the law does not work the same way for everyone,” she concludes.
