HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zerriouh
The streets and alleys of Nador province, amidst the clamor of ongoing election campaigns, are witnessing fierce competition between lists and candidates that is not limited to communication meetings and posters, but extends to the sidewalks, which are now drowning in massive amounts of scattered advertising papers and leaflets.
In this context, a number of sanitation workers confirmed that this exceptional period doubles the volume of their daily tasks, as they are forced to exert doubled efforts to collect the remnants of propaganda that are constantly renewed throughout the day as a result of intensive field activities.
Some workers explained that the biggest challenge lies not in the electoral process itself, but in the culture of dealing with public space, pointing out that the leaflets thrown on the ground turn the city's streets into areas that require frequent and continuous intervention to re-engineer and clean them.
For their part, stakeholders in the sanitation sector emphasized that responsibility must be participatory and solidarity-based, bringing together political parties, their supporters, and citizens, to protect the common property and ensure that democratic competition does not become an additional source of visual and environmental pollution.
With the electoral race continuing to its final stages, sanitation workers remain on the front line of defense, hoping that party practices will rise to the level of environmental awareness, so that the cleanliness of Nador's streets becomes an integral part of civilized and responsible electoral behavior.
