HIBAPRESS – Marrakech: Mohamed Dhaher
The Criminal Appeals Chamber of the Marrakech Court of Appeal, on Wednesday, October 21, sentenced the Member of Parliament for the Rahamna constituency, Hamid Al-Akroud, to six months in prison and a fine of 1500 dirhams. He was convicted of "breach of trust" in a case related to his legal dispute with a company that rented audio and visual musical equipment for a nightclub owned by the MP, who belongs to the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party.
The same body, in the civil case, ordered the MP Hamid Al-Akroud, former president of the Sidi Bouothmane commune, to pay the civil claimant "Kh.B." one million dirhams (100 million centimes) in compensation. This ruling overturned the initial judgment of September 15, 2021, which had acquitted Al-Akroud, who previously belonged to the National Rally of Independents and Constitutional Union parties, and declared lack of jurisdiction to rule on civil claims. The appeal trial lasted 14 sessions, with the first held on May 14, 2025, before the case was reserved for deliberation on Wednesday, October 7, and the verdict, number 5900, was delivered today.
