Since the start of the Paris Olympics, 41 people have been sentenced to prison terms in cases related to the sporting event, according to the French Justice Ministry.
In an initial report concerning the Paris 2024 Olympic Games relayed by the French media, the ministry lists 181 legal cases linked to this event between Wednesday July 24 and Thursday August 8.
Of these cases, 96% were the subject of a criminal response with 41 convictions to prison sentences and six stadium bans, notes the same source, specifying that the majority of the procedures concern offences linked to intentional violence, the highway code or even the flights of drones and aircraft without authorisation.
Beyond these figures, the Ministry of Justice is pleased that the event took place, overall, without incident, thanks to the strong police presence around the competition sites.
The Minister of the Interior for current affairs, Gérald Darmanin, had previously announced a 24% drop in violent robberies and a 40% drop in violence in transport since the start of the Olympic Games.
