HIBAPRESS – Taroudant
Aziz Akhannouch revealed, during a speech gathering in the city of Ouled Teima, on Thursday evening, September 17, new data regarding the expected water projects in the Taroudant province, in light of the continued challenges of drought and water stress affecting the water resources and the agricultural sector in the province.
Akhannouch explained that the province will benefit from the second seawater desalination plant project, with a production capacity of up to 350 million cubic meters annually. 250 million cubic meters will be allocated for agricultural irrigation, while 100 million cubic meters will be directed to provide drinking water.
Water transport networks are also expected to extend to agricultural areas in Taroudant, contributing to supporting agricultural activity and alleviating pressure on traditional resources.
This project comes in the context of efforts to confront the repercussions of successive drought years and enhance water security in the province, especially in an area where vast sectors of its economy are linked to agricultural activity. This is amidst aspirations that the new water infrastructure will contribute to ensuring production sustainability and improving the conditions for supplying the concerned areas with water.
