The Court of First Instance in Larache ruled yesterday, Thursday, the acquittal of Wafaa Jarida, the owner of the statements famous for the phrase "Why Did They Bring Us?", in connection with her legal prosecution due to statements she made during the mass exodus towards the crossing leading to Ceuta.
The ruling came after a session dedicated to discussing the case and hearing the individual concerned, thus concluding the preliminary stage by declaring her innocent of the charges she was being prosecuted for.
The judicial police in Larache had initiated a judicial investigation into the statements after security services, according to previous data, considered them to include "misleading news" and "malicious accusations."
The case goes back to statements in which Jarida said that official entities allowed the opening of the road to individuals who wished to migrate and transported them to the area, before abandoning them and preventing them from entering Ceuta.
According to the data previously provided by the security services, the individual concerned was being prosecuted for charges related to reporting false crimes with knowledge of their non-occurrence, spreading false news, as well as slander and defamation.
With the issuance of the acquittal verdict, the Court of First Instance has drawn the curtain on the first stage of this case, pending any further proceedings in subsequent litigation stages.
