Families of children suffering from diabetes in Casablanca have demanded the provision of insulin pens in health centers, stating that this medication has been unavailable since last July, forcing many families to purchase it from pharmacies despite its high cost.
The families confirmed in statements to "HIBAPRESS" that insulin is directly linked to the stable health condition of children with Type 1 diabetes, calling for urgent intervention to avoid any complications.
Mothers and fathers explained that some families have been facing difficulties in obtaining insulin from health centers for months, while their financial situations do not allow them to bear the continuous costs of purchasing it, forcing them to borrow or seek assistance to provide treatment for their children.
The families also expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of modern tools for monitoring sugar levels, emphasizing that their primary demand at the moment is to ensure a regular supply of insulin.
Concurrently, families of children suffering from celiac disease have highlighted additional hardships related to the high prices of gluten-free food products, noting that the cost of these products burdens families, especially those with more than one affected child. These families have called for the establishment of support mechanisms and the provision of essential goods at reasonable prices, with the scope of benefit extended to families in both cities and villages.
During a peaceful protest, parents of children with diabetes appealed to the relevant health authorities to intervene to restore the supply of insulin pens in health centers and ensure continuous access to them, emphasizing that this is essential treatment that children cannot do without, and stressing their desire for their children to be able to continue their studies and daily lives in stable health conditions.
