HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Fatima Zahra Al Mansouri, coordinator of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), has put an end to the controversy that followed Ahmed Cherqaoui's announcement of his support for the party, confirming that "PAM" does not bear responsibility for the positions, statements, and choices of others, and that she does not adopt Cherqaoui's positions.
Al Mansouri's clarification came during a party rally in the Rehamna region, following Cherqaoui's announcement, a few days before the September 23 vote, that his media group was aligning with the Authenticity and Modernity Party, and his call in an article for an opportunity to be given to a "female competence" to lead the executive body. Although Cherqaoui did not mention Al Mansouri by name, the combination of his support for "PAM" and his call for a woman to head the government was understood politically as support for her, given she is the most prominent female leader within the party. Cherqaoui's stance prompted Al Mansouri to break her silence, stating that she "does not know Cherqaoui and has never met or spoken with him," disassociating herself from his support. Al Mansouri stressed that Cherqaoui's positions do not represent her and do not bind the Authenticity and Modernity Party, asserting that holding the party or its leadership responsible for the positions of other individuals would, in her words, constitute "defamation and questioning of her patriotism."
