HIBAPRESS – Agadir
Preliminary results of the legislative elections in the Souss Massa region showed a remarkable advance for the Independence Party, which, according to data circulating as of the early hours of Thursday, managed to win local parliamentary seats in six electoral districts, pending the final decision in the Agadir Ida Outanane district.
According to the preliminary results, the Independence Party topped the districts of Tata, Inezgane Ait Melloul, Taroudant South, Taroudant North, Tiznit, and then Chichaoua Ait Baha, a tally reflecting a strong presence for the party in a number of the region's provinces.
The Agadir Ida Outanane district remains the last prominent station awaiting a decision, amid the ongoing process of collecting and sorting minutes, with competition among several parties for the four seats allocated to the district.
Previous preliminary data had shown the Justice and Development Party in the lead, followed by the National Rally of Independents, then the Authenticity and Modernity Party, with the ranking continuing to change as votes are tallied.
The Souss Massa region comprises seven local electoral districts with a total of 21 seats, including four seats in Agadir Ida Outanane, three in Inezgane Ait Melloul, three in Chichaoua Ait Baha, four in Taroudant South, three in Taroudant North, two seats in Tiznit, and two seats in Tata.
This data remains preliminary in nature, pending the official announcement of the final results by the competent authorities, the completion of the tallying of all minutes, and the confirmation of the final distribution of parliamentary seats at the Souss Massa region level.
