The Secretary-General of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party, Mohamed Chouki, said on Thursday in Rabat that the party has maintained its electoral weight and its position among the main political forces in the national party landscape, five years after assuming government responsibility.
Mr. Chouki explained, in a press statement following the announcement of the results of the legislative elections of September 23, that "voters' trust in the party is a responsibility and a trust," emphasizing that the party's position cannot be reduced to an electoral ranking, but rather represents a capital of political, governmental, and organizational experience, and a political project that the party will continue to defend and develop as a significant and responsible political force.
He noted that the party contested these elections in a period characterized by successive challenges, pointing out that the recorded results reflect a decline compared to the previous electoral contest. He stated in this regard that the significance of this decline cannot be underestimated or justifications sought for it.
In this context, he stressed that the party will not deal with the obtained results with a self-satisfied logic, but will open a calm and serious discussion within its institutions to objectively evaluate its political, governmental, and communication experience, asserting that "a strong party listens, reviews, and corrects, and reads the messages of citizens to renew its ideas and elites."
Regarding the discussion on government alliances and the upcoming political phase, the party official explained that these issues will be discussed within the competent bodies according to organizational procedures and in line with the national interest.
It is worth noting that the National Rally of Independents party, which led the government coalition after the 2021 elections, came in second place in the legislative elections of September 23, 2026, obtaining 66 seats.
