HIBAPRESS – Rabat
King Mohammed VI appointed, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Fatima Ezzahra Al-Mansouri, coordinator of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), as Head of Government, entrusting her with forming the new government, in accordance with Article 47 of the Constitution.
The appointment came during a royal reception at the Royal Palace in Rabat, following the PAM's top results in the legislative elections, thus marking a transition to a new phase of political consultations regarding the formation of the majority and the next government.
Al-Mansouri's appointment is the first time a woman has reached the position of Head of Government in Moroccan history, making this step a landmark in the trajectory of women's presence within institutions and political decision-making positions in the Kingdom during the reign of King Mohammed VI.
The new Head of Government awaits the consultation phase with political parties to form the governmental majority and select government members, while public opinion anticipates the features of the new government, the names of its ministers, and its program in the coming period.
Appointing a woman to lead the government in Morocco for the first time in the Kingdom's history is a recognition of the distinguished status enjoyed by Moroccan women in our country, a status that has been enhanced during the reign of King Mohammed VI and strengthened in many fields where women have proven their ability to hold the most prominent and highest positions.
