HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zerriouh
The Airport Neighborhood in the city of New Nador is experiencing a catastrophic environmental situation, as the vicinity of the waste containers has turned into open, unorganized dumps. Quantities have accumulated excessively, exceeding the capacity of the containers and spilling onto the streets and sidewalks.
This worrying scene raises major questions about the pace of waste collection operations and the field management of the sanitation sector in the neighborhood, especially since it is a vital residential area that should continuously be prioritized for maintaining its general environment and cleanliness.
In light of this deteriorating situation, the residents of the neighborhood have raised a cry for help, demanding that the responsible authorities intervene urgently and immediately to remove the accumulated waste, clean and disinfect the area to ward off any potential environmental repercussions that could harm the appearance of the region.
Those affected warn of the serious health risks now threatening residents, particularly children and the elderly, due to the emission of foul odors and the proliferation of insects and stray animals attracted by this exposed waste amidst residential areas.
Local activists conclude their appeal by calling on the local authorities and the municipal council to intensify oversight of the company responsible for managing the sector, and to ensure its full commitment to daily waste collection standards to guarantee residents' right to live in a healthy and clean environment.
