Special sources informed HIBAPRESS that the competent Public Prosecution in Azilal has decided to open an investigation into the publication and circulation of content via electronic websites and social media pages, which contained incorrect information about alleged organization of a protest march in the Ait Bougmaz region, in the context of the elections.
According to the same data, the region, as has been ascertained, did not witness the organization of any march or protest related to the electoral entitlements, contrary to what was widely circulated across a number of digital platforms.
The available data showed that a number of photos and videos presented as documenting protests in the region, originally belonged to activities and meetings related to the election campaign, before being circulated out of their original context and accompanied by comments suggesting facts different from their content.
This judicial investigation is being opened to verify the circumstances of the publication and circulation of this content, and to determine responsibilities regarding the dissemination of data that could present an inaccurate picture of reality to the public opinion, especially in light of the rapid spread of photos and videos on social networks.
The results of the investigation, which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, are expected to reveal the circumstances surrounding the publication of this content, the accuracy of the disseminated data, and the potential responsibilities arising from it, according to the legal procedures adopted.
