HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Dozens of small taxi drivers protested this Thursday morning in front of the headquarters of the Anfa prefectures in Casablanca, expressing their rejection of the continuous rise in fuel prices and the resulting additional burdens on the sector's professionals.
The protesters raised demands primarily related to the necessity of taking measures to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices on taxi operations, emphasizing that the continued increases directly affect their working conditions and incomes.
The protesters also demanded stricter measures against the operation of smartphone application-based transportation outside the legal framework, considering this activity to be unlicensed competition for traditional taxis.
Security was heightened in the vicinity of the prefecture headquarters, coinciding with the gathering of taxi drivers. The relevant authorities are expected to respond to the professionals' demands and open channels for dialogue regarding the various issues raised by the sector.
