The Regional Oncology Center in Oujda, affiliated with the University Hospital Center, is experiencing unprecedented tension following escalating disputes between its administration and health professionals, prompting the Unified Office of the University Hospital of Oujda, affiliated with the National Health Union (Moroccan Labor Union), to issue a strongly worded statement.
In a statement of solidarity, a copy of which was obtained by HIBAPRESS, the union body expressed its strong condemnation of what it described as "abuse of power" within the Regional Oncology Center, emphasizing that the situation has reached critical levels that deeply affect the human and rights-based aspects for the institution's employees.
The same statement condemned the actions attributed to the center's director, pointing to her adoption of "arguments and threats" and her feminization of the institution's work environment with "phantom wars," instead of focusing on improving management and advancing hospital services, as stated in the text of the communiqué.
In this context, the National Health Union stressed its principled and unconditional solidarity with nurse (Z.A.), who works in the center's surgical complex, following the assault she was subjected to by the institution's director. The union clarified that this incident is not an isolated case, but rather part of a "series of transgressions that have affected professionals and employees from various categories and grades."
The union office also held the administration of the University Hospital Center of Oujda responsible for this tension, calling on the supervisory and relevant authorities to intervene urgently to conduct a fair investigation and correct the existing imbalances before the situation escalates within this vital health facility.
The union body concluded its statement by calling on all health workers at the Regional Oncology Center to increase their solidarity and close ranks in defense of their dignity and legitimate rights, affirming its continuation of its advocacy and struggle steps until all forms of restriction and authoritarianism within the institution are put to an end.
