HIBAPRESS – Tetouan
A fire broke out inside a tailoring shop in the city of Tetouan, causing significant material losses estimated by its owner at more than 40 million centimes, after the flames consumed its various contents and equipment.
The owner of the shop said that she was working inside until 8:30 in the morning, before leaving for her home, and then received calls from her neighbors informing her of a fire and smoke coming out of the shop.
She added in a statement to HIBAPRESS newspaper that the fire engulfed the entire contents of the shop within minutes, before she could return and save any of its equipment or possessions.
The losses included 12 sewing machines, an ironing machine, a cutting machine, as well as quantities of goods and fabrics belonging to customers and brands with which the project owner deals. The damage also affected the electrical equipment, floors, and ceilings.
The affected owner explained that she started her project from scratch with a single sewing machine inside her home, before expanding her activity and receiving support from the National Initiative for Human Development to acquire equipment and machinery. She indicated that she had been working in the burnt shop for about two years in wholesale tailoring for brand owners.
Despite the magnitude of the losses, the project owner affirmed her commitment to rebuilding her activity and resuming work, appealing to philanthropists and anyone who wishes to help her to restart her project. She also called for support by sharing her story more widely.
