HIBAPRESS – Tangier
Several neighborhoods in Tangier have witnessed, in recent days, a dense spread of mosquitoes locally known as "Shanoola." This has sparked the dissatisfaction of residents due to the bites they are suffering, especially during the night.
Citizens in various parts of the city, including Kassiṭa and the old Braness, have complained of bites they described as severe and unusual. These bites cause swelling and skin inflammation accompanied by persistent itching, reaching the point of skin wounds and bleeding due to repeated scratching, especially among children and the elderly.
The complainants affirmed that the spread of this insect has gone beyond nightly annoyance to affect their comfort and daily lives. They are forced to keep windows closed despite sometimes high temperatures and resort to using various types of insecticides in an attempt to limit their spread.
