The Popular Movement Party affirmed its commitment to its position in responsible national opposition, considering that the consultations it held with the appointed Prime Minister did not go beyond the level of courtesy and general exchange of views, without resulting in any offer that would justify changing its political position.
This came in a statement from the party's Political Bureau, following its ordinary meeting held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, chaired by Secretary-General Mohamed Ouzzine, and in the presence of Party President Mohand Laenser, which was dedicated to discussing the developments of the political and organizational stage and evaluating a number of national and international files.
Regarding government consultations, the party explained that it participated with positive will and a desire to break with the previous government term, by presenting an integrated vision regarding the nature of the government required by the next stage, in light of the political, economic, social, human rights, and spatial challenges.
The Popular Movement noted that the course of these consultations remained limited to the level of courtesy and discussion of generalities, emphasizing that it had not received any official offer justifying a shift from opposition to another position.
It also stressed that it had not, for its part, submitted any offer or request in this direction, considering that serving the nation remains a priority that transcends calculations related to political positions.
In this context, the party renewed its affirmation of continuing in the ranks of constructive opposition, with a commitment to presenting a political and societal alternative that it described as serious and effective, in a way that serves the interests of the nation and citizens and preserves national constants.
