HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zerriouh
The regional office of the Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights in Nador is following with great interest and concern the field and administrative developments related to the reorganization of hospital services in the province.
This interest comes in light of the rumors surrounding the ongoing arrangements to implement the gradual transfer of medical departments and staff from Al-Hassani Hospital in the city center to the Provincial Hospital in the Silwan commune in Nador province.
In this regard, the regional office has observed a stark and worrying contradiction between the official content of correspondence and administrative responses received from the competent authorities, which stated that the reorganization file is still under careful study and will not be decided in the short term, and the circulating field movements and arrangements that indicate the imminent start of the transfer process in the coming weeks.
In light of this ambiguity and the lack of transparent communication channels with the public, the human rights organization expressed its strong astonishment at this discrepancy between administrative promises and field practices, considering that this situation confuses the population and undermines their constitutional right to access accurate information in a timely manner.
In a related context, the statement emphasized the necessity of safeguarding the right to health and ensuring the proximity of essential hospital services to citizens, reiterating its demand to keep vital departments – such as the emergency room, the maternity and pediatrics department, and the intensive care unit – within Al-Hassani Hospital in Nador, to protect the right to life and facilitate access for the local population and surrounding areas to emergency healthcare.
In conclusion, the regional office of the League holds the health and executive authorities in the province and region fully responsible for any potential decline in the quality or continuity of health services provided to citizens, while affirming its determination to continue advocating through all available legal and human rights channels to preserve the dignity of the people of Nador and ensure their inherent right to treatment.
