HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Barka
The "Don't Touch My Child" organization has warned of circulating information regarding the sale of candy in Moroccan markets inside packs that mimic cigarette packs. It considers these products, if their existence and circulation are confirmed, to raise concerns about their impact on children and their potential to contribute to normalizing the image of smoking for them from an early age.
The organization urged families to exercise caution and vigilance and to monitor the products their children purchase. It also appealed to national media outlets to intensify awareness efforts about the dangers of this type of product, due to the indirect messages it may carry that encourage children to imitate behaviors harmful to their health.
The organization demanded that the competent authorities intervene urgently and open an investigation to verify the accuracy of this information, identify the source of these products and their compliance with applicable laws, and take the necessary measures to protect childhood.
The organization, headed by Najat Anwar, emphasized that protecting children is a collective responsibility, stressing that smoking should not be presented as a game or candy that could make it seem normal in the eyes of the youth.
