HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Barka
Yesterday, Thursday, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Agadir sentenced the second defendant in the case of the murder of a young man in Al Hassani neighborhood, known as "El Batoir," during the second day of Eid al-Adha, to life imprisonment, after he was prosecuted for intentional homicide.
The judicial body also issued a ruling of three years of effective imprisonment against a third defendant, for participation and failure to provide assistance to a person in danger, while it was decided to postpone the decision on the file of the first and main defendant until next Tuesday.
The details of the case go back to a fight that broke out near the Senegal Mosque in El Batoir neighborhood on the second day of Eid al-Adha, before it escalated into a violent confrontation in which bladed weapons were used, resulting in serious injuries to the victim, a young man in the prime of his life. Despite being transferred to the University Hospital in Agadir to receive treatment, he passed away from his injuries, leaving shock and sorrow among his family and acquaintances.
Security investigations led to the arrest of the three suspects in stages, after investigations were initiated by the competent authorities to determine the circumstances of the crime and the roles attributed to each of them.
The sentences issued against the defendants are part of the judicial process of this case, which has shaken public opinion locally, pending the outcome of the next session regarding the main defendant.
