HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Fawzi Lekjaa, Minister of Economy, Finance, and Public Administration Reform, revealed the government's intention to exempt Moroccans from paying electricity bills less than 100 dirhams, starting from the upcoming January 1st. This step aims to alleviate financial burdens on families and improve their purchasing power.
This measure comes within the context of the measures being announced as part of the government's financial orientations, aimed at reducing the cost of living, especially for households with limited electricity consumption, for whom energy bills constitute part of their essential monthly expenses.
Lekjaa's statements were made during the joint plenary session held by the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors, in accordance with the provisions of Article 68 of the Constitution, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the headquarters of the House of Representatives. The session was dedicated to presenting the draft finance law for the fiscal year 2027 by the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Public Administration Reform.
