The Ministry of Health and Social Protection told all citizens in a statement that it is closely monitoring the epidemiological situation of monkey root disease (M-box), which is currently spreading widely and rapidly in a number of African countries, within the framework of the international epidemiological surveillance system.
It also updated the national plan for surveillance and response to this epidemic, based on the evolution of the international epidemiological situation, as well as the evolution of the level of knowledge about this disease, as well as the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
The ministry also confirmed in its communication that this announcement regarding M-Box is the second of its kind in two years, with the World Health Organization having previously classified the disease as a public health emergency of international concern between July 2022 and May 2023, while continuing to… Cases are being reported worldwide to date.
The same source points out that in Morocco, a voluntary national plan has been developed and activated since June 2022. This plan has allowed the monitoring of 5 cases until March of this year. Most of them occurred and did not lead to infections among people in contact. They are also characterized by their medical simplicity and complete recovery without any complications.
