Treasury of the Kingdom: “Recording of a budget surplus of 2.37 billion dirhams at the end of January 2024”

A positive report issued by the Kingdom Treasury concerning the budgetary situation, where it indicates that the situation of carryovers and resources of the treasury, based on revenues collected and outgoing expenditures, revealed a budgetary surplus of 2.37 billion of Dirhams at the end of January 2024, compared to a surplus of 2.48 billion Dirhams a year ago.
The General Treasury of the Kingdom specified, in its monthly bulletin of public finance statistics relating to the month of January 2024, that this surplus takes into account a positive balance of 10.3 billion Dirhams coming from the private accounts of the Treasury and installations of the State with independent management, compared to a treasury deficit of 2.48 billion Dirhams at the end of January 2023. Due to the positive balance of 12.6 billion Dirhams from the private accounts of the treasury and the installations of the State managed independently.
The General Treasury of the Kingdom indicated, regarding the total regular gross revenue, that it amounted to 28 billion Dirhams, compared to 24.5 billion Dirhams at the end of January 2023, an increase of 14.1% , stressing that this development results from the increase in direct taxes of 1.6 percent and customs duties of 52.9 percent, indirect taxes of 15.8 percent, registration and stamp duties of 9.6 percent and non-tax revenue 53.3 percent.
Expenditures recorded in the general budget amounted to 36.9 billion Dirhams at the end of January 2024, an increase of 3.4% compared to the level recorded at the end of January 2023, resulting from an increase in operating expenses of 5. 2% and debt costs included in the budget of 7.9 percent, coupled with a decrease in spending and investments of 0.7 percent.
