The judicial police officers of the Tangier Security Province, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, were able, this Wednesday evening, August 21, to arrest five people aged 33 to 48, suspected of being linked to a criminal network active in the international promotion of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The suspects were arrested in the city of Tangier, while they were preparing to carry out an international drug trafficking operation. The seizure and inspection carried out inside the houses they were operating resulted in the seizure of 543 kilograms of Shera, three cars and a motorcycle that they were using to facilitate this criminal activity, in addition to a sum of money suspected to be the proceeds of drug trafficking.
The suspects were placed in theoretical detention pending the judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to identify the remaining possible extensions of this criminal activity, as well as to arrest the other participants and contributors to the commission of these criminal acts.
This security operation is part of the intensive and continuous efforts deployed by the interests of the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance to combat the international smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
