Before September 9th…the Casablanca earthquake recalls the tragic “Al Haouz earthquake”

Heba Press – Al-Bayda

The earthquake felt by residents of Casablanca on Monday morning recalled the tragedy of the Al Haouz earthquake.

A state of terror and panic reigned among the inhabitants of the economic capital and its suburbs, after the aftershocks of an earthquake, whose epicenter was recorded in Portugal, arrived in the early hours of Monday.

A number of Al-Bayda residents chose to leave their homes this morning, immediately after feeling the earthquake, for fear of another, more serious earthquake and a repeat of the tragic scenario of Al-Haouz.

It is worth noting that the State of Portugal caused a moderate earthquake at dawn on Monday, the aftershocks of which reached the borders of the city of Casablanca.

According to the Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded in the North Atlantic Ocean, 89 kilometers southwest of Lisbon, where it was felt in several Portuguese and Spanish cities, and reached the borders of Casablanca in Morocco.

The magnitude of the earthquake ranged from 5.4 to 6.2 Richter.
