Akhannouch chairs the meeting of the steering committee in charge of “Morocco’s candidacy” in the field of green hydrogen

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch chaired, today Thursday in Rabat, the meeting of the steering committee in charge of the “Candidacy of Morocco” in the field of green hydrogen, in execution of the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. calling to accelerate the implementation of this offer with the necessary quality and in a way to guarantee the appreciation of the qualifications presented, our country is full of them and responds to the projects of global investors in this promising sector.
In accordance with the High Royal Directives, the Steering Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, examined the progress of the implementation of the various documents related to the activation of the “Morocco Offer” with a view to developing the green hydrogen sector. In this context, the committee discussed the methodology that will be adopted in the evaluation and selection of projects, through the precise definition of criteria.
During this meeting, which comes less than 6 months after the Prime Minister issued the circular activating the “Morocco Offer” to develop the green hydrogen sector, it was confirmed that the platform set up by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) has so far received nearly 40 applications. A project that confirms the great interest and real interaction of national investors and major international players in the energy sector for the “Morocco Offer”, considered competitive, global, transparent and practical. Knowing that the interest of investors is linked to various regions, from the north of Morocco to its southern provinces.
In this context, it should be noted that the State, in accordance with the Royal Instructions, has identified significant public real estate areas to stimulate and support project leaders, with an area of approximately one million hectares for the development of this promising sector, the State being concerned, within a contractual framework, to protect and ensure the proper use of the public real estate portfolio.
This meeting took place in the presence of Mr. Abdelwafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Ms. Nadia Fattah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Riad Mazour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Mohsen Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of investment, management and evaluation of public policies, and Mr. Fawzi, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, and Mr. Tarek Mufaddal, President and CEO of the Moroccan Sustainable Energy Agency (MASEN), in addition to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
