The constraints facing the most important economic sector in the Kingdom have prompted professionals in the maritime fishing sector to submit a request to the Ministry of Maritime Fisheries, in order to examine the problems that the sector has recently experienced due to the lack of fishery products in the fisheries and markets of the Kingdom.
They are banking on the new political and social entry to engage intensively in meetings with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, in order to study the situation of the sector, especially after the recording of the prices of fish products “record” figures last summer.
These stakeholders are counting on meetings with government officials, led by Mohamed Seddiqi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, to examine the various problems facing the sector and propose alternative solutions that could alleviate the difficulties encountered by the sector, the lack of production in the national Atlantic fisheries and guarantee the right of citizens to consume.
Industry players point to problems mainly related to the lack of fish production, whether due to natural or human factors linked to depletion, which has led to an increase in prices, stressing that “the situation calls for bold decisions.”
They concluded that they are ready to engage in consultations with the ministry, considering that everyone is concerned by the current reality, whether stakeholders or consumers, which requires serious and continuous work to ensure the country’s food security.
