President Macky Sall received Bassirou Diomaye Faye in audience on Thursday, his successor elected after the presidential election of March 24, announced the Senegalese presidency.
The two men discussed major state issues and the oath-taking and transfer of power ceremony, the presidency said in a message shared on the social network X.
Ousmane Sonko, leader of the African Patriots of Senegal for Ethics and Fraternity (Pastef, dissolved party), a party of which the elected president is a member, took part in the hearing.
Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye was declared the winner of the presidential election with 54.28%, according to provisional official results announced on Wednesday.
