With a cost exceeding 1.9 billion dirhams, the construction of a 3,300 meter long underground tunnel in Rabat is on hold.

In this regard, the National Railway Office launched a call for tenders for the construction of the tunnel as well as several related works, as part of the project to build a high-speed train linking Kenitra to Marrakech.

The project, whose completion time is set at 42 months, consists of the construction of a double-track tunnel 2,750 meters long, an open uncovered part over a distance of 50 meters, and a covered tunnel comprising 4 tracks over 500 meters.

The tunnel will start from Wadi Abi Raqraq, near the entrance to the current railway tunnel, to the entrance to Rabat-Agdal station. »
