Moroccan Hussein Amouta, coach of UAE club Al Jazira, faces increasing pressure on the horizon after a disappointing start to the 2024-25 season, when his team lost to Al Sharjah by a harsh 4-0 scoreline, making the defeat a turning point in his career.
A modest result in the first round
So far, Amouta has only collected 3 points out of 9 in the first three rounds, as he picked up a win against Al Orouba and two losses against Al Bataeh and Al Sharjah.
It appears that his career at Al Jazeera could be short-lived if these negative results continue, as pressure from the masses demanding change increases.
Hussein Amouta surprises fans and confesses
Amouta admitted in his statements that his team is still in the construction phase, expressing his ambition to achieve positive results, but he no longer sets ambitious targets to win the title this season.
He highlighted several factors that led to the team’s decline in performance, including the delay in recruiting new players and injuries to some key players, directing criticism towards video assistant technology “VAR”.
The challenges ahead
Amouta also explained the strength and technical stability of the Sharjah team, expressing regret for the inability of his players to implement the established tactical plans.
Al-Jazeera Club signed Amouta in the hope of achieving great achievements thanks to his previous experience with the Jordanian national team, but now he faces real challenges in achieving the set goals.
