Heba Press: Tiznit
Yesterday Monday, a group of mothers organized a demonstration in front of the Regional Directorate of National Education in Tiznit, to protest against overcrowding in the annex of the Moulay El Zein school, located in the Idriq district in the city of Tiznit, where their sons and daughters study.
In this context, the mothers concerned revealed in separate statements that their children “continue their primary education in unfavorable conditions due to the narrowness of the rooms and the increasing number of students in the annex of the Idrak neighborhood, which forces some students to sit on the floor,” as they put it.
The protesting mothers expressed their fear of “losing their children’s right to education due to the overcrowding of the primary school where they study and the negative impact this will have on their academic success, in addition to the health consequences that could result.”
In addition, the mothers denounced what they called “false promises” made by the region’s education authorities regarding the acceleration of the construction of a primary school in the neighborhood to which they belong.
The mothers participating in the demonstration explained that “the Ministry of National Education has long planned a project related to the construction of a primary school in the Idriq neighborhood, but this project has not yet seen the light of day for reasons that are still unknown.”
In this context, these mothers renewed their call to the Regional Directorate of National Education of Tiznit to speed up the procedures related to the construction of a new school in the Idriq neighborhood, in order to guarantee the right of their sons and daughters to learn in good and comfortable conditions.
