The ecological initiative “Car-Free Day” will be organized next Sunday in Agadir, to raise awareness of the dangers of pollution and promote sustainable mobility.
Initiated by the Agadir Municipal Council, the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa region, the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), the Agadir police prefecture and civil society, this event mainly aims to reduce urban traffic problems and deal with the harmful consequences of pollution caused by cars.
It also aims to promote a more eco-responsible lifestyle, through the use of bicycles, walking or public transport.
This initiative, which invites citizens to take ownership of urban space and make the most of a city with streets free of polluting vehicles, also aims to limit the circulation of motor vehicles, encourage the use of ecological means of transport within cities and explain to young people the advantages of alternative mobility.
“Car-Free Day” is also an opportunity to encourage collective awareness of the environment and the health risks of air pollution, in particular to limit the use of cars and opt for bicycles as the preferred means of transport.
This ecological gesture in favor of the environment aims to solve the problems of urban traffic, to raise awareness among citizens of the importance of protecting the environment and to make public spaces less polluted, while reserving the streets for pedestrians, cyclists and activities such as bike racing.
The ban on driving will be observed between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in several streets and avenues of Agadir.
