The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, confirmed Tuesday in Laâyoune that the Laâyoune University Hospital Center will be ready at the end of 2025.
Mr. Ait Taleb, during a field inspection visit to the construction workshops of this major project, accompanied by the governor of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, the governor of the Laâyoune region, Abdel Salam Bakrat, and the director of the National Public Equipment Agency, Zainab Benmoussa, stressed that the works are progressing at an accelerated pace, noting that all contractors mandated for the construction works have been mobilized to accelerate the pace of completion of this project of scale.
The government official added that the Laâyoune University Hospital Center, which will have a capacity of 500 beds, will constitute a health center serving residents of the southern regions of the Kingdom.
It was noted that this project, which is part of the regional health map and the territorial health group, will have qualified human resources and will contribute to raising health indicators in the southern regions.
On the other hand, Ait Taleb stressed that the Laâyoune University Hospital Center will also be a destination for health professionals from sub-Saharan African countries, as part of the activation of South-South cooperation, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. .
For his part, the representative of the Laâyoune – Oued Eddahab Regional Directorate at the National Public Equipment Agency, Belkheir Al-Asri, indicated that the rate of progress in the completion of the Laâyoune University Hospital Center has reached 65 percent, and is well on its way. at a rapid pace.
Al-Asri stressed that this project, which extends over a total area estimated at 180,000 square meters, including 95,000 square meters covered, required financial allocations amounting to one billion and 200 million dirhams for its implementation. .
