In Algeria, since the beginning of the week, emergency cases have been reported in the southern provinces of the country (wilayas of Tamanrasset, Ain Guezzam and Bordj Badji Mokhtar) due to the deterioration of health conditions in the region.
According to some foreign observers, certain provinces in southern Algeria are experiencing very serious cases of diphtheria and malaria and that the epidemiological situation is raging among the ranks of citizens, due to the rapid spread of the infection and the lack of medical personnel needed to contain the spread of the disease, leading to all southern provinces being declared disaster areas.
As a result, local authorities have decided to declare that all roads leading to these areas will be closed and citizens will be prohibited from entering or exiting them for a period of two months.
