HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The occupied city of Ceuta received remarkable attention with the arrival of the Spanish monarch, King Felipe VI, and his wife, Queen Letizia, on a royal visit that comes 19 years after the last visit of its kind to the city.
The streets leading to the municipality headquarters witnessed the presence of a number of citizens who lined up to welcome the King and Queen, raising slogans expressing their adherence to the city's connection to Spain, including welcoming phrases for the King and Queen and others confirming the defense of Ceuta's status.
This visit holds particular importance given the context in which it is taking place, as the status of occupied Ceuta and Melilla remains a sensitive issue in the relations between Morocco and Spain, despite the existing cooperation between the two countries in a number of fields, including migration, security, and economic exchange.
