Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan first national team, has continued to exclude French Olympique Marseille star Amine Harit, despite the player’s excellent performance at the start of the 2024-2025 football season.
During a press conference held yesterday Thursday, Regragui announced the list of “Lions of the Atlas” who will face the Central African national team in the third and fourth rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The list includes notable changes, notably the persistent absence of Amin Harit, which has relaunched the debate on the reasons for this exclusion in sporting circles.
Harith’s absence has sparked great controversy in the Moroccan sporting street, given his brilliance in the European leagues, where his performance at the start of the current season has surpassed that of many called-up players.
Regragui explained the reason for Harith’s absence saying: “Harith wants to play as a starter and doesn’t accept the idea of sitting on the bench, so I will call him when I see he will play in the starting lineup. »
On the other hand, media reports that Harit expressed his astonishment at Regragui’s justifications regarding his exclusion and assured those close to him of his respect for the coach’s decisions, expressing his desire to work hard with his club to ensure his future participation with the national team.
Harith is hoping to be part of the national team in the upcoming continental competitions after playing 24 matches for the national team and appearing in the 2018 World Cup final, although his injury kept him out of the World Cup. world 2022 in Qatar.
