The Moroccan national team marked its distinguished participation during the Nanbudo World Championship, which took place from October 4 to 6 in the Turkish city of Istanbul, where it obtained first place.
The Moroccan team managed to win nine gold, eleven silver and eleven bronze medals, ahead of the teams from Turkey, Croatia, France, Cameroon, Switzerland, Uzbekistan and Algeria.
In a statement to the Arab Maghreb Press, the technical director of the Nanbudo National Committee, affiliated with the Royal Moroccan University of Judo and Assimilated Military Arts, Hussein Hafez, expressed his pride for this historic feat of the Moroccan national team, attributing this success to the perseverance and dedication of the members of the national team.
Hafez added that this feat honors national sport and confirms the prestigious status of Moroccan champions on the international scene.
He estimated that this victory would contribute to the advancement of the practice of Nanbudo in Morocco, a sport that entered the Kingdom since the end of the 1970s, where Hussein Hafez was one of its first practitioners.
The medals were presented to the national team by a number of local Turkish officials, led by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
It should be noted that Nanbudo is a Japanese martial sport founded in 1978 by the Japanese professor Yoshinao Nanbu. It combines self-defense techniques with traditional martial arts, such as karate and judo, with an emphasis on developing harmony between mind and body.
