Morocco is ranked among the top five countries that have significantly improved their business climate over the past two decades, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit index.
Between 2003 and 2023, Morocco ranked fourth out of 82 countries that managed to significantly improve the business climate, according to the ranking published by the Economist Intelligence Unit in its report.
Morocco comes first in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to the British Research Centre.
The Economist Intelligence Unit indicates that since the early 2000s, Morocco has relied on an economic restructuring program aimed at improving living standards, reducing unemployment and stimulating growth.
Successive Moroccan governments have also worked to attract foreign investment, notably by reducing bureaucracy, modernizing the financial system and privatizing certain sectors, notably communications.
The report confirms that over the next five years, most of the best-performing countries since 2003 will see the greatest improvements, joined by a small number of other countries such as India, Kenya and Greece, noting that ” The improving Economist Intelligence Unit index has always been an accurate indicator of stronger growth in the share of real GDP per capita.
The index measures the attractiveness of the business climate in 82 countries by analyzing 91 indicators divided into 11 different categories.
These indicators include the political environment, macroeconomic environment, market opportunities, policies related to freedom of enterprise and competition, foreign investment policies, foreign trade and exchange controls, taxes, finances, the labor market, infrastructure and the level of technological readiness.
It is worth noting that the Economist Intelligence Unit was founded in 1946 and has over 75 years of experience assisting financial institutions, governments and multinational companies in complex business environments.
