The High Commission for Planning indicated that the “services” sector created 258,000 jobs (plus 5%) between the third quarter of 2023 and the same quarter of 2024.
In his information note on the situation of the labor market during the third half of 2024, the delegate explained that this development is the result of the creation of 206,000 jobs in urban areas and 51,000 jobs in rural areas.
The same source confirmed that the “construction and public works” sector, for its part, created 57,000 jobs, following the creation of 68,000 in rural areas and the loss of 11,000 jobs in urban areas, recording an increase of 5 per cent. percent of the volume of employment in this sector.
The “industry, including traditional industry” sector also created 23,000 jobs (+2%), following the creation of 27,000 in urban areas and the loss of 3,000 in rural areas.
At the same time, the “agriculture, forestry and fishing” sector lost 124,000 jobs (-5%), following a drop of 133,000 jobs in rural areas and the creation of 9,000 jobs in urban areas.
