Marrakech: Arrest of three foreign nationals for international drug trafficking

Elements of the national brigade of the judicial police arrested, Wednesday in Marrakech, three foreign nationals of Chinese, Ukrainian and Lithuanian nationalities who are the subject of international arrest warrants issued by the American judicial authorities for their alleged links with networks criminals engaged in international drug trafficking and the laundering of funds resulting from these criminal activities.

The three foreign nationals, aged between 22 and 25, were arrested during simultaneous security operations in Marrakech, as part of the privileged bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan security services and their American counterparts, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of national security (DGSN).

The tallying of those arrested in the Interpol database revealed that the suspects are the subject of international arrest warrants issued at the request of American judicial authorities, for their links with criminal cartels operating in international drug trafficking, notably “Fentanyl”, in addition to the laundering of the spoils of this criminal activity.

The suspects were placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while the National Central Bureau “Interpol Office in Rabat” reporting to the General Directorate of National Security was responsible for notifying his American counterpart of this arrest under the extradition procedure, adds the same source.

This arrest is part of international security cooperation relations as well as the efforts made by the Moroccan security services in tracking down people wanted internationally in cases of transnational crime, the press release concludes.
