The Moroccan Bar Association announced that it had reached “important agreements” with the Ministry of Justice regarding the requests filed by lawyers against the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wehbe, several months ago.
The association explained in a press release, following a meeting of the joint thematic commission between the two parties, held last Friday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice in Rabat, that the agreements included most of the observations and suggestions formulated by the association. , which reflects the common interest between the two parties in adapting legal texts to the needs of professional practice and in guaranteeing the rights of the defense.
The communication also adds that the meeting was marked by an in-depth discussion on the draft law on civil procedure and on the file of general mutual assistance of lawyers in Morocco, considered as one of the priority files in the demands of lawyers .
The source confirmed that the meeting took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, characterized by seriousness and mutual desire to find practical and effective solutions to the issues raised.
As part of the follow-up, it was agreed to hold a second meeting of the Joint Thematic Commission on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, which will be devoted to making a detailed presentation of the mutual aid file and discussing the related Assembly proposals. to this file.
The meeting took place in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Justice, including the Minister of Justice, the Secretary General of the Ministry, the Director of Civil Affairs and Legal and Judicial Professions, in addition to the Directors of Legislation, Modernization and Digitization, the Deputy Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons, accompanied by the president of the Association of Bar Associations and members of the Dialogue Commission designated by the office of the Association.
