Morocco in full swing at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival: Asmae El Moudir appointed member of the jury for the “Un certain regard” selection and Loubna Azabal will chair the short film and Cinéf jury

The Moroccan director, screenwriter and producer, Asmae El Moudir, has been appointed member of the jury for the “Un certain regard” selection of the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, scheduled for May 14 to 25, according to the organizers.

Asmae El Moudir, a rising figure in Moroccan cinema, sees her talent and influence recognized internationally. Director, screenwriter and producer, she made a name for herself with her critically acclaimed feature film, “The Mother of All Lies”.

The jury for the “Un certain regard” section, chaired by the famous filmmaker Xavier Dolan, will also include in its ranks the Franco-Senegalese screenwriter and director Maïmouna Doucouré, the German-Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps and the film critic, director and American writer Todd McCarthy.

Still, Asmae El Moudir will not be the only representative of Morocco in the juries of the Cannes Film Festival this year, since the actress Loubna Azabal will chair the short film and Cinéf jury, thus bringing a double Moroccan presence which testifies to the richness and diversity of Moroccan cinema.
