HIBAPRESS – Shafiq Anouri
Massad Bowles, senior advisor to US President Donald Trump, welcomed the new United Nations Security Council resolution on the Moroccan Sahara conflict, calling for "all parties to engage in negotiations without delay" to reach a solution within the framework of autonomy.
The senior advisor for Arab, Middle Eastern and African Affairs said in a tweet on "X" that his country welcomes "the historic vote that took place today to extend the mandate of the MINURSO mission for one year, and looks forward to supporting the negotiations aimed at achieving peace in the Moroccan Sahara."

He added: "I echo the call of the American President for all parties to engage in negotiations without delay in order to reach a lasting solution, based on genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, based on the credible and realistic Moroccan autonomy proposal."
Bowles affirmed that he completely agrees "with His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the importance of launching a fraternal dialogue between Morocco and Algeria to resolve this conflict and build new relations based on trust," concluding that the United States of America, under the leadership of President Trump, remains "committed to working with all parties to achieve a just and lasting peace."
The UN Security Council voted on Friday evening on UN resolution number 2797, which clearly supports the Moroccan autonomy initiative, considering it the protective and "most viable" basis for resolving the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
