Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain player, is considered the most notable star of the French club’s new project under Spanish coach Luis Enrique, given the outstanding numbers and performances he presents this season.
After the departure of captain Kylian Mbappé for Real Madrid, Hakimi became the decisive element of the team, as his level underwent a remarkable evolution which made him one of the best players in his position at European level. Hakimi has developed into a versatile player who excels in various areas of the pitch, transcending his traditional right-back role.
Tactics evolved with Luis Enrique
At the start of the season, Hakimi was no longer just a winger on the periphery of the pitch, but instead became an essential part of the team’s offensive plans. Luis Enrique explained his tactical philosophy saying: “Achraf plays as a full-back only when the defense demands it or when the ball is with Donnarumma, but he participates in advanced positions and can appear in full attacking roles. »
This tactical change has allowed Hakimi to overcome criticism that he only fits into three-man defense systems, becoming an effective offensive player who poses a threat to his opponents all over the pitch.
Amazing numbers and outstanding offensive performances
Hakimi continues to break records this season, as he became the fourth player with the most shots on goal in the Champions League with 17 shots. He is also the third defender to complete passes before shots in the Champions League, with 130. These statistics confirm his excellence in constructing attacks and his central role in offensive plans.
At the level of the major European championships, Hakimi is the second defender in the number of chances he creates, which highlights the diversity of his offensive abilities.
Outstanding goals and assists in all competitions
In 21 matches in all competitions, Hakimi has scored 10 goals, including 3 goals and provided 7 other assists, making him one of the most high-profile players Paris Saint-Germain are relying on this current season.
A leadership role and renewal of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain
Hakimi also demonstrated his leadership abilities after being named the team’s second captain after Marquinhos, reflecting his pivotal role in the dressing room. The club also reached a preliminary agreement to renew his contract until 2029, ending rumors of his departure in 2026.
Hakimi is a bridge between youth and experience in the new project
With the departure of several stars from the team, Hakimi has become one of the key players in the locker room and represents the ideal link between the talented youngsters and the more experienced. The club is also counting on him a lot in the next decisive matches, notably in the Champions League against Manchester City and Stuttgart in January.
Conclusion: Hakimi is the heart of the new Paris Saint-Germain project
Today, Achraf Hakimi is not only a regular player for Paris Saint-Germain, but he is the heart of the club’s new project, and an essential axis in the construction of the future team under the leadership of Luis Enrique.
