“LEARNING FROM RURAL CULTURE” AT THE INSTITUTO CERVANTES IN CASABLANCA

As part of the Heritage Days organized by the Casamémoire association, the Instituto Cervantes de Casablanca presents from May 16 to 18, 2024, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in Morocco, the program on heritage protection “Learning from Rural Culture”, dedicated to bringing culture and rural heritage closer to the city.
The Spanish NGO Terrachidia, with its local partners from the Moroccan oases, will exhibit its latest projects that address the protection of the cultural landscape, its archaeological sites, traditional architecture and construction techniques, music and crafts . The meeting also offers the show “Anciana de paisaje y memoria” presented by the In-Pulso Company of MariCruz Planchuelo, a dance and puppet show about life in the rural environment which invites us to reflect on the roots of living culture .
Terrachidia is an NGO that works to protect and promote cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, in areas threatened by depopulation and climate change. Since 2012 she has worked on the protection and recovery of cultural landscapes and traditional architecture in Spain and North Africa, rehabilitating and recovering buildings and public spaces, as well as carrying out training projects and education related to cultural heritage. She is currently carrying out projects in Inzerki and in the oases of Ich, Figuig and M’hamid (Morocco); in Ouadanne and Chinguetti (Mauritania) and in other North African countries.
