The second part of the connection between the Al -Lacos and Tangier systems includes in order to transfer excess water to the beneficiary areas.
The first step was successfully completed in 2021, which linked the Dar al-Kharoufa dam with the processing station, which allowed the transfer of 75 million cubic meters per year thanks to traction channels.
In its second part, the project seeks to transport 100 million cubic meters of water per year from the Wadi Al -Makhzen dam at the Dar al -Kharfa dam, which helps guarantee the supply of drinking water to the Tangier region , and also limits the water loss of the Wadi Al -Makhzen dam during rainy periods.
The total cost of the project is estimated at 820 million dirhams. Tests are currently carried out to detect all leaks in the channels that extend approximately 11 km, and the channels will be filled as soon as these tests are completed.
