Record broken: More than 1.3 million tourists flocked to Morocco in April

The Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy indicated that the Moroccan tourism sector recorded a record with more than 1.3 million tourists arriving at border crossings during the month of April 2024, thus marking a notable growth of 17% compared to April 2023.
The ministry stressed that this exceptional growth reflects the positive upward dynamics experienced by the sector, noting that this growth includes an increase of 15% for foreign tourists and 20% for Moroccans residing abroad.
During the period from January to April 2024, Morocco welcomed 4.6 million tourists, recording a growth of 14% compared to the previous year, with 567,000 additional arrivals.
The arrival of foreign tourists has been a main driver of this growth, increasing by 15% compared to the same period in 2023, or around 340,000 additional foreign tourists, representing 56% of total arrivals, an increase of one point compared to the previous year.
The Minister of Tourism, Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Ammor, declared: “These exceptional results pave the way for promising prospects for the 2024 summer season and for the year as a whole. We continue to implement our tourism roadmap and strengthen our efforts with all our partners, in addition to our collaboration with professional stakeholders to achieve further positive results. »
She added: “We continue on this path and continue to implement the regional and national programs of our roadmap, which should allow us to welcome 15.5 million tourists by the end of 2024 »
